Did you know that every country in the European Union has at least four work weeks of paid vacation? Crazy, right?
Now that we’re into 2019, I finally get my third week of vacation for my upcoming 5-year anniversary at work. On top of the extra week, I like a lot of other Americans didn’t take all of my vacation days last year, so I rolled some over to use this year.
Since I didn’t get to the beach last year, I’ve really been wanting a stress-free, laid-back vacation, so The Fellow and I decided to take a 4-day weekend over New Year’s, and we rented a cabin near Luray, Virginia.

The Angler Cabin run by Shenandoah Outfitters was everything we wanted – a small log cabin near the river, in the woods, 17 miles from town, and about 7 miles deep on a gravel road.


The cabin was small – one large bedroom in the back with a propane fireplace that served well to dry our towels and swimsuits, a loft with a bed, a tiny kitchen, and a small living area with a futon and a satellite tv. It had a front porch, a

There are four cabins clustered together and all are similarly built; however, I feel like our cabin was possibly built first, and they reconfigured the porch size/layout to accommodate the hot tubs after ours was built as the hot tub for our cabin was around the corner in a separate pavilion, but the rest all had them directly on their porches.
